On July 13, 2023, Katie and Trent each decided to attend a Thursday night Bible study at a local church in Houston. Katie and her friends happened to sit a few rows behind Trent and his. After the service concluded, they exited the aisles and made their way to the back of the church.

Trent had run into someone that he knew, but while talking with his buddy he could sense that his friend group had joined a circle of ladies and he slowly made his way over to join them.

What he didn't know at the time was that he would be standing next to his future wife! Katie had seen Trent before and recognized his face (and hair) but didn't know who he was. They made small talk for about 10-15 minutes before going their separate ways, intrigued and curious as to who the other was.

Three days later on the following Sunday, Katie had decided to join her parents at Second Baptist for the 11:11 service. She recalled from her previous conversation with Trent that he was a member there, and she thought perhaps this could be another opportunity to run into him.

After the service, Katie was exiting the worship center with her parents and ran into Trent again. Katie shared with Trent that she would be leaving the following day for a 10-day trip to Europe. After seeing Katie again, Trent had confirmed that Katie was someone he was certainly interested in and would love to get to know more. There was only one problem, though -- he had not asked for her phone number yet. Knowing that she was about to be gone for 10-days, Trent knew that he might have to make some desperate moves to get in contact.

But, that is where Divine action took place. After their run-in, Trent had joined some friends at a local lunch spot. As he was walking into the restaurant, a girl seeing the interaction (who happened to be Katie’s childhood neighbor) said, "I didn't know that you knew Katie Gregory?" ... and Trent knew right then and there that this was his opportunity. He explained to the girl that he had just met Katie and was definitely interested in knowing her more. The girl then told Trent that he should ask her on a date, to which Trent explained that he only needed her phone number to do so. It was put on a tee for him! A few hours later Trent reached out to Katie and the conversation just never stopped.

Upon her return from a trip to Europe, Katie and Trent went on their first date together and they have been inseparable since. It was evident early on to each of them that the other was special. They valued the same things, had identical morals and faith, and shared a common view on the world. They also had similar interests and similar goals for the future. One thing that they always made evident, though, was their intent in dating. This allowed them to be open and honest with one another -- lacking concern for timeframes or pace. Ultimately, they were pursuing forever in somebody and they found that forever in each other.

By December, through months of dating, much prayer, and time spent with family and friends, Katie and Trent were both certain that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together and they started to discuss plans for the future.

6 months later, on June 8, 2024, Trent brought Katie to the steps outside of the Sanctuary at Second Baptist Church and asked her to marry him -- and she undoubtedly said yes!
